The intervention
Aesthetic surgery known as bichectomy, has two extraction routes that Dr. Galván can approach, according to his anatomical knowledge regarding the patient. It can be done from an external entrance with a Face Lift but it has more complications due to its proximity to the facial nerve.
The other way of extracting the fat balls is through the internal approach, which is the most recommended since the fat appears through a much smoother traction than the other method, through a gingival incision at the height of the second premolar, removing the bags to complete the intervention, many times without requiring sutures.
Post-operative bichectomy
After bichectomy surgery, the patient must strengthen the care of the aesthetic treatment, keeping for a couple of hours the compression bandage that the surgeon will have respectively placed in the area.
With these bandages, the probability of bruising is reduced, in addition to being able to reduce the inflammation that this treatment alone generates. Similarly, the postoperative process will require the patient to sleep with their head raised to decrease inflammation and avoid painful movements.
In the following days, it is recommended to constantly apply cold bands on the face, specifically on the injured area of the cheeks. You may notice the prominent swelling in this area, but it usually lasts 7-10 days or less.
Home care plus the intake of anti-inflammatories is essential to alleviate the symptoms that this aesthetic treatment leaves behind, in addition to the antibiotics that are necessary as a prophylactic method of skin infections.
From the first postoperative day, the patient must adhere to a special liquid-rich diet exclusively indicated by the doctor, which is one of the collaborating aspects with the recovery time until the time to introduce soft foods and a complete diet is estimated.
Contradictions
Among the contradictions prescribed by the bichectomy technique, health status, age, and other factors that may impede the development of an intervention without complications are mentioned in many cases.
Facial cosmetic surgery should be omitted in patients with a history of smoking, since it reduces the healing process considerably. Likewise, chronic aspirin users, since it reduces blood clotting, allowing delayed healing and even intervention.
At the same time it is contraindicated in patients with low protein intake, since the reintegration process after the operation will be much slower than normal, further weakening the immune system.
What's normal and what is not?
In bichectomy and its subsequent days it is normal to see mild or moderate inflammation in the area injured by the surgical method, since it is part of the healing process that surgery brings and which usually lasts around 10 days.
At the same time, hard cheeks can be perceived that will diminish the sensation with the passing of the days, but it is normal to have been the injured area during the intervention. If apart from this, cervical or facial liposuction has been chosen in conjunction with bichectomy, you may notice tighter skin and a slight bruise that will disappear with the passage of weeks.
Things that can happen after performing this cosmetic surgery of the removal of fat pockets but that are not normal and is the appearance of immediate bruising, as well as abscesses after several days of surgery but without having completed 7 days.
The paresis of this region may appear due to compression of the branches of the facial nerve, but it is also not normal, since it is indicative of a poor surgical process and which will require further revision.
On the other hand, other symptoms that are not common or normal in bichectomy is complete paralysis of the branches of the facial nerve, as well as Stenon duct stenosis, preventing salivation.
